Harmonic Balancers

I was reading about the new Rattler 2000 harmonic balancer by ATI. It's supposed to eliminate all twisting harmonics.

It sounded really interesting, but as i did some more research, i noticed that all the nascar teams as well as the Engine Master Challenge builders were using the old elastomer balancers. No one used Fluiddamper balancers.

Anyone have an opinion on this subject?

I used a Fluidampir.

For longevity a fluidampir is the cats ***. Unfortuneately Fluidampir was not a contegency sponsor for the EMC. That's too bad because component weight was not a real issue in the challenge. In NASCAR it is and they are not the lightest things out there. I did use the WJ Signature Series one, and it was the lightest of the bunch at around 5lbs or so. There are ones that do a worse job at dampening, but weight alot less.

My father has some really good techincal imput about these things.

IMHO when you can have the weight, the Fluidampir ones are the best, when you are restricted like in a cirlce track class on component weights then the other type gives you more advatages.
