glowing header question

Hopefully this is "tech" enough for the Advanced section

Anyway, I noticed last night that my #5 header primary is glowing at >2000rpms. I pulled the plug...looks normal (mabye slightly rich). Changed out that plug wire, no difference. Switched the #5 injector with the #1 injector, no difference. I then bumped the fuel pressure up some and still no difference....header is still glowing some.

Kinda concerns me since only one of the cylinders has high EGT.

I am kinda confused on where to go from here. I cant see anyway that this particular cylinder would be pulling any extra air from somewhere.

The car still runs great. ???

Any ideas?
Thanks, Jason

I forgot to mention that I also checked the lash...both the intake and exhaust are fine on that cylinder.

Here is my infamous Chuck quote for you to ponder:

"On a side note, cause I see this misconception come up quite frequently.... A glowing header tube is not a symptom of a lean mixture. It's either caused by rich mixtures (fuel burning in the primary), spark retard which drives exhaust temperatures up, low spark intensity (incomplete fuel burn), or long camshaft overlap periods."

Thanks Ken...so basically the only thing that I can think of now would be that it is opti related. ?? Funny since I just put this one on (not brand new though). I have a new opti sitting here though that I might throw on.

Anything else I might check?

Thanks, Jason
