It is a Gen I Block. I have gotten the feleing that it will be harder or differnet from swappint a Gen II (LT1) block in. So, what are the differences, what can I do about them. I am really more curious about the block problems than the cowl clearance issues because of tha carb, although if you know how I can keep my wipers when I mod the cowl, that would be great.

I know you guys know this stuff! (Injuneer) Help

um....it will drop right in pretty much

Why would there be any block problems when you plan to use the Gen I block?

the only thing i can think of is cowl clearance and you will have to run a crab-crap low profile distributor cap to clear

I don't know, I figured that it would fit right in using SBC Motor Mounts. There was a previous post where Injuneer was curious about the block a kid was using for a 396 swap, so I figured it must matter that I was putting a Gen I block where a Gen II block normally goes.

Also, its going to be carbed and even though I have chosen the lowest profile stuff I can find, I know I am going to have to trim the cowl. The wipers are in the cowl and I don't want to lose them, am I going to have to cut them out like I have seen on the drag only cars?

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Well, money I guess. I can't afford a $2000 fuel injection setup, so I went with a Holley Double Pumper at least for now. Also, I can tune a carb, I don't know about that FI stuff.

I understand that. Sometimes the pain of EFI makes all it's advantages and cost go down hill.
