Fuel system

I'm asking this for a friend who came to me with some question. He would like to run a fuel cell for his 96 Z. He doesnt want a seperate stand alone system. He wants to put in a fuel cell and run it to his carb. Thats the tuff part, he did a little carb conversion on his LT1. He has a GMPP intake manifold, Edelbrock DP carb, and a cc306. He's also running a 150 wet shot of nitrous.

What all would he need to feed his new combo? Like, what size fuel pump, different ways to route his system etc... or if you could direct him to another internet source or a book that explains fuel systems in a race/drag car app. that would be helpful as well!

Re: Fuel system

This isn't really advanced tech, it belongs in Classic Tech for carburetors.

Any quality 110+gph carbureted pump will be sufficient for the engine and a 150-200 shot of nitrous. Aeromotive 11203, Holley 12-802-1, Mallory 4140 and other have fine pumps for this. They should be plumbed with at least a 3/8" aluminum or -6 braided line from the pump to the regulator. Lower pressure pumps are also available but with the nitrous use a higher line pressure is beneficial. A return system would be quieter and flow a higher volume of fuel but it will require the use of a return regulator and the extra plumbing.
