After reading thus far, I'm feeling better about the current setup.

I guess the true test will be dyno/track.

Maybe a shimmed 982-KIT is in your future. (conical) They will fit the inner 1.25" step of those heads. Not the best solution maybe, but practical.

Get the right spring seats... bastards are only 1.250" big at the bottom...

Larry, you could save I've run a bunch of them, lots of them on non LS1 stuff.
