File Fit rings on 383 SC

What are you guys setting your rings on 383 blower motors. My current set is: 383. 190AFR's, LT Hookers, 4" mufflex, 57# injectors, T-Trim w/aftercooler, and a TNT kit that I haven't sprayed yet. Probably some other stuff I forgot to name too, but anyway. See I'm trying to figure if mine weren't filed right cause my motor is getting blowby at 5500 and up and seeing 10# of boost, no more. I don't get any blowby at idle and none when I take the belt off the SC and run the motor up to 6400. The guy that did mine set the top ring at 20-22 and the 2nd18-20. I talked to the guys at JE/SRP and they told me they would set the rings at 26-28 for both. I have people telling me I should put a vacum pump on the motor, but I don't think I should have too.

Help. Fixing to pull motor and get New total seal rings and set the rings to the JE/SRP specs unless you guys got any idea.

I set both of mine at 23 for a 383 with 10.8 comp and an occasional 150 shot. I think 23-25 should be good but maybe someone with more blower app experience will chime in.

I didnt want to say because I wasnt 100% sure ......but my engine biulder said you dont want to use the total seal rings with a power adder app. The tech guy also may have been refering to your ring land hieght of the particular piston your using as being for NA apps. Im using a standard NA -14cc SRP piston ....but I went to a 5.85 rod so that the wrist pin would be further from the land area. Your pistons should be fine if you are running 5.85 or 5.7 rods. Again I dont know alot about blower apps...only what Ive been told or read....so take my opinion for what it worth.

Total Seal

I kinda heard the same thing about the total Seal rings but I have watched first hand a stock LT1 withe the exception of the pistons and cam, go 630rwhp on 12#'s and some juice withe these rings. But we have discussed the hearsay about these rings, but I think I'm going to give it a go. But I will call the guys back at SRP/JE and ask the what rings they recommond.

Thanks GS355

The question isnt will they work...obviouly they will....question is the effect on longevity of your engine.
