Exhaust runner length?

I have been looking at some SB mopar heads and have noticed how the exhaust runners seem shorter then anybody elses. Is there any advantage to this, or is it like the intake runner where longer is better?

Thanks
Jeremy

you want the "shortest" possible exhaust port length inside the Cylinder Head

=>to reduce thermal distortion and the amount of waterjacket area or air surface needed to contend with it

then you make up the required/desired exhaust length with header pipe.
