Cylinder Head Casting #'s HELP ASAP ! AND CAM Question
Ok I am on the phone with Eddie ( my engine builder ) right now and He has a set of 95 fbody z28 camaro heads in his shop and ofcourse the 97 LT1 heads off my Trans Am. But they have 2 different casting #'s. Is this because of year of production or is there a flow difference? Basically what is the difference? We are going to port them to the max and would one have any benifit over the other??? the casting #'s off of the 95z28 heads are 10207643 and the #'s off my 97 trans am are 12551561. Which set is better?
Also CAM Question. there are 2 or 3 different style cams on the LT1. I have a 97 Trans -am and eddie has core here that he can use but needs to know the dowl pin style and hole. He hasnt taken the opti spark off yet and can find out by doing so but cant get to it until jan2, but wants to send the cam off ASAP so it will be back by the time we need it. Basically I needa decription in the style of the hole/ dowel for a 97 LT1 cam.
Please HeLP ASAP !

Supposedly the meatiest (best head for porting) are the 93s, the 97s have the least meat but flow the best stock for stock.
There were at least I think 3 total casting changes in the Fbod heads, which make up these small differences.
