Coating your head ports and pistons

There are some coatings out there that are meant to be used on your head ports. Like on the exhaust end there is a heat reflective type that helps keep heat in that port and not allow as much of it to be absorbed into the head. It is suppose to give you a few more horses.
Also this coating can be used on the top of pistons for the same purpose...
And if you can use them for the head ports why not the inside of the headers too? Headers are coated on the outside to protect other parts so why not apply some of this type of coating to protect the header and keep the header cool. Especially on turbo apps.

I forget the Brand names of these products..

has anyone had any experience with these products? Thoughts, discuss.

hmm...jethot coated headers are coated with their sterling finish inside and out for the purpose stated above.

And also this topic has been brought up several times in the last few months...especially after the engine masters challenge was published. Try a search on engine coatings im sure youll find good info.

couldnt find much on it... Nothing bad said about it.. Mainly all i got was is that its expensive and gains are minimal in most cases...
But im getting it done for free.

THe engine shop i took my motor too said the same thing... Each piston usually costs 20 bucks to coat or so plus u can coat your head ports and intake manifold and rods etc... so its expensive... and most people cant justify the cost

I don't see why you would coat the pistons/heads, I understand its to prevent detonation so you can run more compression mostly, but unless you can coat your spark plug I don't see what the point is considering the spark plug is ussually the first thing to start preignition causing detonation.
