i'm confused; do all LT1 tranny's have the same transmission? summit is telling me they're all 27 spline, while jeg's is telling me that they're all 30 spline.
the stall they sent me is 30 spline, but my LT1 tranny is 27 spline.
did different years have different spline counts? or is my tranny mutated?

Well they have not produced a 27 spline V8 700R4 trans since early 84! Only the 2004R had them after that
They NEVER had them in the 4L60E.
Tell us more on the problems?

alright, i'll give you the background on my car:
it's a 94 z28 police camaro. i bought the car from the police a few years ago.
well, we rebuilt the tranny and i bought a hughes stall, but it turned out to be a lemon, so i called jeg's sent me a 2500 stall that's for 4l60Es...well, the stall is a 30 spline, and when we tried to fit it on the tranny, it wouldnt go in all the way...so, we called jegs and asked what gives. they told us that the 30 spline is the correct spline count for 4l60e trannys...
we counted the splines on the tranny and everytime, it's 27...
Well the odd part is you say the TC will not go on all the way. This is usually from trying to put a 27 spline converter on a 30 spline unit. For you trans to have a 27 spline INPUT shaft it would have had to have been swapped out with a very early 700R4 unit input drum and after market stator shaft.
If any thing a 30 spline converter would slide right on the trans and when you got it all done and installed it just would not move and maybe make a light grinding noise
Now the other thing I have seen as far as not going on easy is when some new parts are used the splines are real tight and need tapped on VERY lightly.
let us know how it turns out!
