Carbon fiber?

Is it possible to repair carbon fiber body panels like fiberglass..I have the opourtunity to purchase a car with some broken panels. They look more frayed than cracked from my 1st and 2nd inspections...The whole peice is there just that some are cracked..They dont handle any stresses but being that they will be painted over id like to attempt to save some cash if i partake on the car and its needed repairs..

Ive talked to a few body men that work on high end cars and have gotten answers on both accounts..So from teh way i see it they need to be replaced but if i can do repairs then that will be fine..

We had the cowl and hood repaired w/o issue. The hood was literally Broken, and the cowl/firewall had significant damage also.

All Carbon Fiber (and 'glass bodied to an extent) Racecars require body maintenence every year or two, as the vibrations, twisting, bouncing, and wind forces bend and crack things all the time. After the loss freshen up on this car, and then one weekend at the track we found several area of minor hariline cracks. Mostly its just paint cracking, but sometimes it gets into the body.

we've had our car repaired a few times now. which is why i think paint guys like these cars so much, they know that we're "return business".

the cracking out is repairable but since you're asking this question i would have someone with experience do the repairs. cause done improperly, it will just crack out again in short time. although on a more mundane track car, a cf body should last a long time.
talk to the guys at CFM, they can repair the panels for you and they have the experience to do the job right.

Well im still not sure if im going to buy the car as of yet..The suspension is giong to cost over 17K just to get the parts..Ive got a snowballs chance in hell getting any suspension parts for a diablo so i have to get them from europe..

Aparently somebody lost the front and rear calipers along with the wheels and rotors wich were broken..I think theres a tow truck driver that wants a suveneer.

Im really interested in having the taillamp panel that holds the taillights and there is a panel that supports the air intake duct for the drivers side air filter box.

Thanks for teh help as im going to call a body man to look at it and see how much it costs..
