Can anyone identify this valve spring?

I managed to break one because someone didn't install the heads properly.
For some reason I was sure they were 977s, but they don't look like the 977s on Summit's page.
They look more like the 924s. Or even Crane 96849s or Crane 96848s
They were on the LE2 heads when I bought them (sold as "unused", but certainly not the original springs)

And no, it is not bent or smashed. I used the scanner to get the pic since my camera can't focus on
something that small and get any detail.

Sometime those photos are only representive of the part and not the actual photo. Not sure if that was the case in your situation.

the 26918s are single wire beehives...

measure the inside and outside diameters of both springs. Take it to a shop that can measure the spring rate.

The springs were properly installed, the head bolts were what was not installed properly.
One of the head bolts was torqued down over the shims, breaking them.
That caused the springs to sit funny and ultimately caused two to fail. (one inner, one outer)
We combined the two broken ones to make one good one.
They all tested good with a pressure tester.

I had the heads refreshed, new K800 springs and TrickFlow guideplates installed.
Fortunately, the valves were still in great shape.

Do you have any idea just how many valve springs look just like that one - there is no way you are going to accurately identify a spring by how it looks.

I was worried you were going to say that.

Confirmed, they are in fact 977s.

http://www.sdparts.com/product/CC977...lveSpring.aspx

Jegs, a few other sites and Lloyd agree.
(Actually, now that I look back on my emails, he did say that they were 977s when he removed and tested them for me)

Thanks guys.
