"Black Box" reprogramming question...
Many of the newer vehicles manufactured have a "black box" that recovers driver's info. in a time frame usually 10 seconds or so prior to the airbag deploying and continuing sometime afterward. The "black box" takes a "picture" of the probable cause of an accident where an airbag is deployed. Can this box be (legally) defeated, reprogrammed, or just plain done away with without setting SES lights, codes, etc. Just a thought that popped up when I was hearing about an accident that involved a bud's relative that has hit by a speeding vehicle being chased by an N.O.P.D. cruiser...
How "technical" is the info. recovered by the insurance co. when the "black box" is removed and analized the above?...
Anyone?...

Very good answers. Seems that the "black box" could be defeated by disconnecting the fuse that triggers the airbag(s). Probably could get the correct resistor from Radio Shack and mimic the load on the airbag circuit. Then the "picture" would never be taken...but you may die from the collision...
Also, thanks for the articles. They were very interesting reads...
