Is it absolutely 100% necessary to cut cowl in 4thgen for carb?

My friend seems to think he is gonna fit a gen1 86up block in his 94 with the bmr kmember without cutting the cowl at all.

I dont agree, but i dont know much if anything about this subject, so I want to be able to tell him for sure that hes gonna have to use the saw.

Is there any carb combo that will fit under a 4th gen cowl or not?

Your friend should listen to you, I think.

Maybe the carb from my 10 hp snow blower could be adapted without cutting.
