94 opti to 95 upgrade
HAs anyone attempted to remove the pin out of the cam while still in the car??? Do you think applying heat around pin would hurt anything else?? Dont wanna remove cam if I dont have to. Also if car has been align bored (mains for Splayed caps) do I need to get the chain set that compensates for that???
You should not need a special chain no.
The pin is too small to grab I would say, with the timing cover blocking it. If the timing cover is off, use some vice grips. However, you can't use that cam with a 95 Opti anyway, if this is a cam for a 94, the center is not large enough for the new Opti. If you have an aftermarket cam and it doesn't follow the same rules, I dont know about it. The old splined shaft cam though if original, will not work with a 95 opti.

So your running a 1995 style cam already? I never knew how the splined shaft worked out for those people that didn't upgrade.
If thats the case, get some vice grips, get them down tight, and twist that thing out while you pull it. Try to do it slowly so you dont crush the dowel and just pull off the vice grips, its pretty hard material but you can crush it which will make it harder. Heat may help, but a cam needs to stay straight, so I'd prefer not to do that, and just pull it out if needed. Since you have the car that far apart anyway, I'm sure you wont mind some extra work pulling the intake too.
