3rd Gens...w/EFI.. Pics of cleaned up or out engine bay?
Would like to see some pics of EFI cars with cleaned up engine bays and maybe some explanation of where you moved or rerouted some of the electronics.. I have relocated battery to the rear.. getting a electromotive ecm with coil packs.. so I won't be using a distributor, unless I get one and modify it to turn my oil pump.. I also will be keeping A/C but all the rest can go if it can.. move relays behind dash? Need help, info and pics.. want the engine bay to be much less cluttered...
Re: 3rd Gens...w/EFI.. Pics of cleaned up or out engine bay?
how do you plan to turn your oil pump without a distrib?
i also have a coil pack i want to use on my car, but the only way i could think to turn the pump is to either leave a distrib in, or to make a adapter of some sort to hold a LT1 oil pump drive in.

I have a few ideas...
1. Electromotive sells an electric oil pump drive... Not really what I want.. Electic could fail...
2. My uncle and I were talking about many of the new vehicle using older block but running coil packs have a Dummy distributor.. that the top is milled off and it connects to the oil pump drive and the cam and a dist. fork hold it down at the top but there is nothing above that fork.. That's a good idea...
3. Electromotive sells a distributor conversion kit that mounts the crank trigger wheel on the distributor and get's it's crank triggered from that.. I don't like this idea that much even if the trigger wheel is smaller.. Probably going with #1 or #2

Re: 3rd Gens...w/EFI.. Pics of cleaned up or out engine bay?
not to hijack your thread, but heres my problem with that:
im running a modified LT1 intake, and one of the benifits i wanted was no hole in the rear of the intake for a distrib.....
but i suppose i have to make one anyway.
the best idea i could come up with is a LT1 oil pump drive that mounted to a piece of billet... the billet then reached up towards the china wall.. id have to drill a hole in my block thru the china wall (two actually) and mount it thru thoes holes....
since this is my oil pump, thats kind of a big risk.
not to mention im drillin in my motor, and its already assembled...

I don't know anything about those new blocks.. you might want to start your own post over in a LT1 forum. I am sure there are people running this modifed intake that you are..
Re: 3rd Gens...w/EFI.. Pics of cleaned up or out engine bay?
The LT1 block has a boss that is tapped and threaded, the tang of the dummy drive is bolted down here. The boss is located against the back rail on the lifter valley.
Would it be possible to drill and tap a hole in the lifter valley and then use a spacer for proper depth for the tang to bolt hole clearance?

If you have a hole in the intake, MSD sells a stub that will drive the oil pump. Does the electromotive setup use a crank trigger?
Re: 3rd Gens...w/EFI.. Pics of cleaned up or out engine bay?
i already looked it up.. summit wants somthing like $79.95 for it.
if you want, goto the MSD website and look under the front drive distrib kits......

Here it is..
Love it!!!!
Some great work guys.. Now if I could see some pics of cleaned up engine bays, with some explanation of how they did it, this thread might be a total accomplishment......
