383
383
QUESTION--
I have a 355 with speed pro forged flat top 4 valve relief pistons. I just broke the stock crankshaft, so I'm wanting to step up to the 383.
I want to use my forged pistons again since they don't have any wear on them (no nitrous use).
What I want to do is I want to buy a forged steel crank with good forged H-beam rods to go with my forged flap top pistons.
Is there any way that I can do this and keep my compression down, or do I have to buy the whole rotating assembly?
Thanks

You'll need rods that are 0.135" shorter than what you had.
If you ran 5.7" rods before, you will need very short 5.565" rods... probably not worth it.
If you ran 6" rods before, you can do with 5.865" rods... although depending on what your deck height was fully assembled in the 355, you may be able to get away with 5.85" rods which would be cheaper than custom rods.
Are you gonna deck the block at all? How much? (may I suggest 0.015"?
)
Do you know what your piston height was in the 355?

I'm not sure about the deck height on the block before.
I'm in the works for a rotating assembly, but if I can't find a good one for a great price, I'll just build my 355 back up and run it with all the forged goodies in it.
Thanks yall,
D Moss
