3100 series cam lobes

Was reading about a post where one with the 3100 lobes and a 224/236 duration cam with a 110 lsa made as much top end but way more low end and vacuum than a 306.... just wondering if its more emissions friendly and how close it is to a solid roller type lobe. Also what valvetrain components would I need?

No idea how emissions friendly the 3192/3196 is. Those are the high-lift 3100 series lobes. (.605 and .624 with 1.6's). Emissions wasn't any part of the consideration for choosing it! It might be ok, however with it's relatively low overlap.

These are very aggressive inverted-flank (hydraulic) lobes. Close to a solid roller lobe? As far as aggresiveness, yes, but I haven't see solid rollers with this short duration and high lift.

IMO, you need the VERY BEST valvetrain components to use these cams, and a rev limit around 6500. Right now, getting lifters might be a problem...but that will improve, I'm sure.

I spoke with a tech at Comp the other day and they now have a new company making their hyd. roller "R" lifters. He said they should be caught up with all the backorders by the end of the year
