ZZ4 Cam in a 350 with Comp-Controlled Q-jet??
I know that the ZZ4 engine conversion is SMOG legal in all 50 states. But would that cam act much different in a rebuilt-warmed over '92 350? I live in Cali is the reason I ask. Also, anyone know where to get the ECU chip that comes with the ZZ4 conversion kit? I imagine it would help with the timing curve and computer settings.
I want to install this cam in a fresh '92 350 with ported heads, 2.02/1.65" valves installed, with 9.5:1 CR.
I would install different springs and retainers and run with it. The cam currently in the motor is a stock Vortec cam with 1.6:1 roller rockers. I would be running 1.5:1 roller rockers with the ZZ4 cam.
The main reason for the swap is the need for a mech. fuel pump lobe. Plus alittle power wouldn't hurt either.
