Let it dry out overnight then try it. I learned that same lesson also, don't spray water on these engines they have too many wires.

its been four days since it happened. im thinking i probably cracked the block. i'm also wondering why did the engine used to shoot out steam from the guide tube for the dipstick. the steam problem i noticed since i recieved the car.

Probably got a sensor too wet.
The steam could just be the internal gasses and fumes.

Change your distributor cap. You got water under it. I have done this twice before with different cars.

Like "mako350Z28" said. You have to remove the distributor cap and dry it out. It will not dry out on its own. Might as well replace it if its old.

the cap and the coil were replaced after this happened thinking that was the problem. now the car is starting to return to how it used to be with a slighly decrease in power. now what i cant stand is the oil leaking thru the dipstick tube. i was told that it was a pcv valve that was clogged. Still hoping it regains its power back.

pressure washing TPI engines is risky business. this same thing happened when my dad decided to clean his 33k mile '87 Z a couple years back. it was never the same.
