Go with the 383. No replacement for displacement.

Ought to be a real good setup. My 87 is similar and it should be running 12's but it needs more cam and tuning and a higher stall converter. I love the way the miniram pulls upper rpms with my proted TFS 23* heads. I have a Hotcam in now but i'm going to the comp XE 224/230. Anyway, like i said, it ought to be a mean setup. Ed wright is good! Both my car's are speed density setups and I get Alvin at PCMforless.com to do my tuning.

He may be good but he is not that good that he can cut a chip based on what you tell him and have it right the first time. Get someone that will make adjustments till it is nuts on.

I was just pointing out that Ed Wright and Fastchips (Ed owns Fastchips) are 1 and the same. Since the two were mentioned seperately I assumed that there may have been some confusion. Mail order tunes lack the dead on tune that one can achieve by dialing in a setup with a self tune, no question.

seeing as you have the parts already i would use them too, might as well try it. as far as et i'd mid 13's if you use the tpis chip....if you get low 13's i'd consider it lucky and anything into the 12's would be a blessing. a little work done to the heads and intake will make a big difference in that area too though, hope it works out for you well.

With traction, that seems like a pretty high estimate. My motor is a bone stock ZZ4 (smaller cam than his and his heads flow WAY better), with an edelbrock 750 carb. It ran 13.4 @ 109 (easy 12s w/ that mph) with 3.42 gears and no traction whatsoever. I also know a guy who ran 13.5 with an LTR setup, ZZ4 cam, and trick flow heads. Once again, way more restrictive intake, smaller cam, and more restrictive heads. His car should be in the 12s no problem.
