Worth it?

I was looking at some third gens after selling my 95z for a daily driver.
There is a 85 Iroc with 168000kms,auto,ttops,305tpi, body is mint with orig. paint, interior is good but it needs a torque converter(tranny bad?) and harmonic balacner for $2300.00CAD is this worth it?

Or is it a better idea to get a 84 z28 for about $800.00-1000.00 that has a working drivetrain but the body is rougher.

I will want to put a 350 in it in the future..

Thanks

Re: Worth it?

go for the iroc

the suspension will be better, and you'll have wider and nicer looking rims to start with

the torque converter rairly goes bad. it's usually the tranny.
first thing to check is if there is enough fluid.

what is it doing? or not doing?

Re: Worth it?

The owner said it was the torque converter. When I looked at it there was no tranny fluid in it, he said that he was going to replace the tq so he drained it?

Re: Worth it?

The Iroc sounds like a better deal. Although the 84 is cheaper, a rough body can become very expensive in the future.

Re: Worth it?

i'm just not sure what could go wrong in the torque converter...compared to dozens of possibilities in the tranny.

and i agree with the above statement on the body. not to mention, if you get a nice running car, you'll still not wanna drive it and show it off if it looks like a mullet-mobile junker.

torque converter and tranny rebuild are gonna be cheaper than body work, prep and paint
