wondering what kind of power these mods will make(SR/219/TFS heads?)

I know this is a Camaro site, but I have sold my Camaro and bought a 88 4+3 Vette! But I do want to get your opinion as the Camaro and Vette TPI's motors are the basic same concept.

I have full exhaust, and some free mods, The car put down 298/401 at the crank, 252/354 at the wheels if my memory is correct.

The question I have is, I was wondering if any Camaro or T/A guys have this combo and what gains have they seen.....

Combo I have planned on the stock bottom end with 71 000 miles is as follows:

-TFS heads(195CC), Just bought them from Summit Racing for $1230.
-Superram(Havent bought it yet, but i know where there are a few for $1038)
-219 LPE Cam(I will be using 1.6 rockers as well).

Curious as to what kinda of power you think I will make with this head/cam/intake combo, and I will also be getting it tuned.

Thanks alot!

BTW! I still love my Camaro's.

with a properly tuned chip you probably can pick up 50-75hp

very rough guess

I agree, those mods should pick up a good deal of HP and torque. If your car put down damn close to 300@ the wheels w/ the stock TPI setup, I would say that you will definatily be around 350rwhp. To me it seems it will be a very good setup, there are few others around here that have similar setups. Just make sure that you also get the other supporting mods as well, like TB, injectors, exhaust, programing. The other thing is, how are you having it tuned? I would recomend to have it dyno-tuned so you can get the most of it. There are plenty of guys running smaller cams, stock heads, w/ the Super-Ram and running low to mid 12's. Good Luck.

Through the 4+3 manual trans and vette rear on a dynojet in cold weather...

My guess is ONE DOLLAR, BOB!! ONE DOLLAR!

OK...Professionally tuned with an aftermarket DFI/FAST System on pump gas I'd say...

355hp @ 5800
415lb-ft @ 3400

More camshaft and you'll have more power. Not sure what compression yer thinking it'll work out to.

what cam do u suggest? from what a few guys tell me from the corvette site. the mods should be good for 400/460 at the crank. if i am only going to get 355, then i wont do the mods, no point.

Don't feel alone - I had the same reaction when I asked the same question not too long ago...

Just doesn't seem worth spending that much money for pis$y little gains like that...

You will get your goal man, don't get worried about what these other people say. I believe you will have around 350hp@ the wheels. Ok, now lets think about this, if you have 300 at the wheels now, with a conservative driveline loss of 15% you have 345hp at the crank.....now that is with the factory set-up and bolt-ons, thats quite good. Like I said w/ that cam, supporting mods, TFS heads, and an intake you will certainly see a great deal more power. Yes, if it was me.....I would go for a larger cam, but this is your engine. I am confident in saying that you will "bolt-on" 75 more hp. That is 420 hp or around there, or 350 @ the wheels w/ again 15% driveline loss. Don't let other people talk you out of your project. If you wanna make sure you will get this number, get a larger cam, and certainly a tune is very important.

Like I said don't let other people talk you out of your mods. Don't let what someone else speculates power wise ruin this for you. Everyone will low-ball their guess if you ask a question like this. Don't focus soooo much on that peak number, you will pick up alot of power throughout the entire powerband. That is what is important. I will do some searches and look around for similar combo's and see what kind of power they made, so I can lead you in the right direction.

Re: wondering what kind of power these mods will make?

Well i don't have alot of time right now but I have found a guy w/ a identical combo besides the Super Ram. This guy ran a bigmouth TPI intake, TPIS runners, ported plenum, TFS heads, LPE 219...and he put down 342rwhp.
I will look more later, but I will say if you are interested in peak performance, and you want more HP than torque look into the Mini-Ram intake and the Holley Stealthram....both will make more peak power....but sacrifice some lowend hp, and torque. There are alot of other cars I found w/ similar combos making around 330rwhp. Most are running low to mid 12's.....isn't that what you are looking for?
