Wondering which to choose.

Well right now I have a 91 z with the 5.7 350 in it. What I am choosing from is what to do first, cosmetic stuff or air flow and sound things. I am giving my car a paint job, new wheels, shaving the door handles, and new hood.. or putting headers, exhaust, heads and cam. Give me some opinions

Well, what do you want to do? Go fast, or just look fast?

I would probably go with headers, exhaust, heads, cam. Maybe a set of performance springs and a few suspension stuff.

Do you want to do a paint job because the car desperately needs it, or is it just an appearance upgrade? If your paint is all faded and scratched, then I would probably do that first. If the paint is in good shape, then I would do engine upgrades.

Hello MUD!

I like doing performance mods that make me smile at least a little bit, make sure the car is reliable in all aspects for daily driving, and then paint it up and have fun. New paint and then working on a car sucks. You have to tip-toe around the new paint.

If you don't want to tear into the car's engine and waste drive time, simple mods can get you going fast. As always with a 350TPI, I reccomend Mickey Thompson 255/50/16 Drag Radials for the rear, a good 9.5" torque converter with 2800rpm stall, and a 100-150 shot of nitrous oxide. Make it an instant torque beast that hooks and books with 3 mods. Headers, catback, intake stuff is worthwhile but it's expensive and the gains are not so exciting.

Lower control arms for the rear are really worthwhile also like someone said. Goodluck!

along with the paint talk... the problem is on the door half way down where its split the guy before me put some big mirror chrome thing there and i hate it so much... i feel like i could have the fastest car in the world and that thing kills me. but, if i take it off it needs paint. also i dont have money for paint but do for very nice headers exhaust and a hood....

Yeah it seems money gets it done. Here's a tip...Don't blow all of your change on an old car. Remember that it really just turns into a 20-30K toy with no actual resale value...hehe
