Whoo hoo TPI problem Hasnt Resolved....

Timing is right, TPS needs Slight adjustment, Car still runs like ****
For those who are new, heres the prob. At first gear when driven normally, car runs fine, but when second gear engaged the car missfires really bad, This also happens when i hit 3rd, but whats funny is when i hit 4th, the missfiring goes away, Im at a lost for words, This car is being a ****. BTW its an 87 305TPI motor 5/speed.

Are your plug wires in good shape?? They might be arcing over and causing the misfire. But I don't understand why it only happens in 2nd and 3rd gears... WTF???

Good luck tho

wires are in Great shape, Thing is their 7mm AC delco wires, There is a point where 4 wires on each side all touch each other, I understand the logic of spark arcing and crossing, But could it cause that big of damage, Excuse my stupidity but i should note this. #1 and #3 spark plugs are set a .35 gap while the rest are at .45, Reason to this was, I have the Edelbrock Headers and Its near impossible to get the rest, Tomorrow im obviously gonna change them all to .35.

The first thing I'd do is go beg borrow or steal a scan tool. Gotta look at it like the computer does or you could spend months tracking it down. Happening only in gears 2-3 is very very odd. I doubt something like bad wires would do that. This almost feels like an ECM or other electronic gizmo going south. A scan might not pinpoint the problem but it might give clues where the problem is.

Thats pretty funny, because my friend owns a shop and we tried hooking up a scan tool to it, but it wouldnt connect. Im running a Painless wiring Harness) I couldnt run a vin on the Scan tool, because the Vin in my car dosent register the motor i have on it, Since my car orginally is a 92' camaro 3.1v6 auto, i converted it to a 87 305TPI / manual.

easy fix on that. just fake the info into the scanner. you obviously can't use your vin. usually all you need is year (87) and 8th digit for vin. the 305 tpi is digit "F"

Thanx for the tip on the scanner, Something tells me that It couldnt possibly be the motor, Is there in any way this could possibly be due to the Gearbox(t-5)? The tranny itself is whinning like a bitch(84 t-5 model) and yes i know its the bearings, But whats making me believe its the tranny is at idle when i give it a good rev up to 4,500 there dosent seem to be any miss. When i launch it at first for the first 4 seconds, it runs HARD(fast)but then its as if i smashed on the brakes and u could hear the TIRES Chirp. So im hoping its either the rearend or tranny, any thought to this?
