Where's my spare?

I just got a Firebird (1989) and I can't find the spare or a jack! There is a large area in the back of the car right against the rear of the car in the interior that could hold a tire. ANd I can't find the jack. Any insight?

Thats probably where they are supposed to be. Just got my 86 Camaro a month or so ago, and it didn't have a spare or jack... I gotta hunt me down one of each now

Maybe the same with your car.

Go to the local salvage yard, Usually the interiors of the 3rd gens in there are so striped you can look in the window and see if theres a jack and a spare right away. Usually the guy running the yard will sell the pair to you for like 20-25 bucks. Its a shame that you guys need the spare now, cause i recently got rid of one that i had laying around, i had no jack to go with it, but you could of had it for the cost of shipping.

So can I see the spare through the back window of all firebirds? Is the tire exposed or hidden in the car?

Spare tire and jack is located on the passenger side of the trunk, there is a big removable panel there, held on with big palstic screws that are removed with a quarter.

Thanks, someone tried telling me the big space was meant for a tire, but it would clearly launch into the front of the car during a crash. Thanks for answering such a stupid question.
