Where the heck can I get a valet chip?

Ok, I am looking for a valet chip... Whether custom burned or otherwise for a 1988 350 TPI motor from a T/A. How can I get one of these without getting that JET 400 dollar select-a-program? I'm not really up on these motors, but 'm going to be working on one soon and need one... Or could I just pull some timing to reduce power?

If your looking for the cheapest route possible, I would try different club sites in their classified sections, I've heard sometimes you can find things on Craigs list too. You might also try looking into Tuner Pro software, its free or just a small donation. They maybe able to help you out, or direct in the right direction.

Ok man, I appreciate it... Little brother's first car can't get him in trouble the first few months or so... So I'm going to make sure it doesn't! lol

If your just keeping an eye on your brother, as far as when he can and can't drive the car. Put a valet toggle switch in some where he can't find it. Or find the fuel pump relay fuse, and pull it when hes not looking.

Like 1988IROC-Z28 already said, you could add a switch or pull a fuse if you want to keep your little brother from driving the car. (btw, I would recommend against the FP fuse by the battery since it would erase the memory of the ECM and it would have to relearn the driving cycle). Or you can just take the keys and not give them to him.

But if you need to make the car "slow" for your brother, you could retard the distributor (clockwise) and/or change the speed limiter on the chip in the ECM. That would be a safe way to slow the car down a little bit.

Yeah, it's going to be his car... But it doesn't need to be quick at all until I feel he has adequate experience.

X2^^^...

Have a look at this amusing ...but educational vid.... this might keep some of your Bro's "friends" from borrowing the car when you are not there to give him guidance...

Pull some timing out, and find someone who can burn a chip and set the rev limitter to like 4200 or something.

I have a question about that as I have a MSD 6Al, if you pull the rpm chip out will the car start. I never tried that my self, but I'm curious to know if it would work.

I use a 6al in my 97 and it ran without the rev limiter chip.

To the op- Try Moates.net for the valet switch. I'm not sure exactly how it works but I did see something on his site that is a switch to run two different tunes.
