Wheels, whats your favorite? opinions?

Ok guyz i'm wheel shopping! I can't make up my mind as to what looks hot, i have a bunch on my mind and i see a new set everyday that have potential. Now one major factor is that my car is Medium Orange Metallic in color, dont ask my why but theres rims that i like and i think they'd look bad on my car just becuase of the color, here's a picture of my car as is so maybe you can get a mental ideal of it with rims.
Pic 1
Pic2
All that i ask for is a 17x9.5" rim and it has to be chrome or polished!!
So far this is what i looked at and like:
  • Torque Thrust II
  • 5-spoke SS wheels
  • 10-spoke SS wheels (seen them in GMHTP on a 3rd Gen)
  • 5-spoke "Thin" C5 wheels
  • Cobra R wheels (seen them on a 4th Gen and loved them)

Now tell me what you like!! If theres any others i haven't mentioned that you like alot post it or even better post pix!! Thanx alot guyz, Mike

5 spoke ss would be cool, kinda hard to tell without seeing them on the car. How much would you want to sell your iroc rims for?

I must be getting old...Let me try to translate: Is that sunset orange?? That is a nice color!!! I think torque thrust II would make your car look good. I'd go aftermarket.

The above was a service for all of us who speak regular english.

j/k---I think.

well there isnt a set of tt2s that i havent liked yet. as a matter of fact whenever i pull out pictures of cars i liked about 90% have them. plus there is a larger selection of sizes and offsets with aftermarket rims. if you want originality youd have to try harder and take the chance of it not being what you wanted. then again if you pull of the right look with something original you just get that much more credit. it really depends on whether you want something original or not. those 17 and 18 in iroc rims are pretty nice too. its like one of those mind tricks, it looks stock but a hell of a lot nicer for some reason. those are the two i had picked when i was gonna buy an iroc. id think thin spokes would show too much space behind the rim if you dont have huge brakes to fill the inside. just my .02

Don't get the thin C5 wheels unless you plan on getting big mean lookin brakes to go with them. Also the TTII's are getting a bit overdone.....can't drive down the block without seein 4 sets now.

I think you'd be better off with polished aluminum wheels than with chrome...the slightly whiter shine would look REAL good with that color. Maybe the polished 5-spoke T/A wheels from a few years back? Or a set of the bigger IROC wheels polished would look nice.

Just to throw something dumb out there...

Maybe the new 02' WS6 rims in chrome? or the normal 98 WS6 style in chrome? I'd make a local friend who has both types and maybe borrow them and see how they look fitted up in the wheel well hehe just a suggestion since I've never seen it personally(done on a thirdgen)

Goodluck! That car looks CLEAAAAAAAN

Thankx for all the replies guyz, u guyz are awesome, good ideas.. Thanks for all the complements on my car too, i try real hard to keep her looking imaculate. The color is Medium Orange Metallic (paint Code 63 from the factory), Sunset Orange is the 4th Generation version of my color, its just a bit brighter but very similar.

Anyways, i like the idea of the WS6 wheels, i have not seen that done before either and it is a definate possibility, i really love the TT II's however like said above they are becomming very very popular. I have a wierd feeling about the Cobra R wheels, they havn't been done on any 3rd Gens that i know of and it is way differnt, i've seen them on a 4th Gen and they look HOT, that is definatley the Wild Card Rim, the one i could take a chance on! But on the other hand the ZR1's are sweet too, none around my area, it would kind of be original in my area i suppose, well keep the ideas and opinions comming!

PS. Oh ya, the chrom IROC rims are hot, the only problem i have with them is that u can only get them in 8" wide, i want to put 275x40/17 tires on, too wide for an 8" rim. I love the rear view of a Camaro with wide tires tucked under the body, Gives me chills!!

I like the SLP 17 x 9.5s. They are on the side bar in the first few pages of Hot Rod, and they sell them online

Have you seen the new Cragar SS wheels? They look similar to TT II's but I think they look a lot nicer and there are far fewer of them on the road if you are going for originality. That would be my bet. I also really like the 10 spoke SS wheels.

Go to thier site you can actually put them on the car...
They are under the truck section but they will fit a camaro
You can only get them in a 16 inch though (might be a problem if you like the ricy low profile tires)
