I like cowl hoods better than anything. And if you have TBI or a Carb setup, you can use the 'cold air' idea from the old Z's. Just my .02

Neither of them are going to do much for you other than improve the looks of your car. it just comes down to your personal preference, I prefer the looks of the cowl hood.

A cowl induction hood IS a ram-air hood. It just takes it's air from the natural high-pressure area that forms at at the base of the winshield when the car is in forward motion instead of having it's own forward-facing scoops that generate their own high pressure area. As with any ram-air hood, sealing the air cleaner up tight against wherever the air is coming from is critical to generating ANY positive pressure above the carb.

The BIGGEST benefit you will see for ANY external air inlet comes from reduced air inlet temps vs. drawing hot underhood air.

I would think the biggest benifit is the lightweight hood which will help your front get up faster when launching. Neither will help you much till you get over 125 mph

Neither are really gonna help, performance wise. I say go with the cowl, because it will give extra clearance if needed.

Car Craft tested a cowl hood against a ram air setup on a carbed vehicle. Both showed similar performance increases in the 1/4, even though the cowl hood was not sealed to the air cleaner. It was just from the cooler air. If memory serves, both setups were about 1 1/2 tenths quicker in the quarter over hot underhood air.

I know gettng in the cooler air will help somewhat. Although you can just rig your air intake for the same effect. But I a impressed with those gains. Although I can see it happeneing, I wouldnt bet my life on seeing those thenths if I were installing the hood.

I think a 4inch cowl hood on your car would make it look mighty mean
