what's the best headers???

Ive been doing some research on header applications for a 1992 Z28 350; what's your thoughts??? I like edels' tubular exhaust but they can be pricey around $500 for the headers with Y pipe included.

i had the tes shorty headers on my 85 Z28 w/ a 350. My advice is to stay away from them, they were constantly leaking on me even after i bought locking header bolts. Look into a nice set of coated long tubes and a custom y-pipe

Severe spark plug interferance on the edelbrocks. Couldn't install spark plug in one cylinder without removal. Headman's are crappy quality but fit ok. SLP's were great in every aspect. goodluck!

I bought those Edel. Ti-tech with Y pipe. I bought the ones W/a.i.r.

They are pricey but my mechanic said they were the easiest install he has ever done. It was truly a direct fit. And they really opened up my exhaust and sound great.

I've only had them a few weeks but I dont have any leaks.

on TGO most will say the Hooker 2055s which I have with no issues, I plan on getting hooker super comps since there like the only 1 3/4 long tube out there, the 1 5/8s are kinda starving my motor plus i plan on a cam swap and n2o next season.

Theres a guy on the third gen board selling 1 3/4" headers. Goes by the name of Dyno Don. They are an excellent quality header based on the SLP design but with improvements. He also sells the wye pipes. Either single or dual cats. IMHO the are the best shorty headers available on the market right now.

Hooker 2055's or get some Dyno Don headers from thirdgen.org. Stay far away from Edelbrocks.

I had Edelbrocks w/Air and never had an issue.

I have a Flowmonster 3" cat back system and find they both work very well.

FWIW, I used the Edelbrock 6872's for quite a while, and when hooked to a Hooker cat-back, those headers worked well enough to make the Minirammed 385 trap in at 113 MPH in the quarter-mile. My efforts to improve the exhaust with some Hooker long-tubes and a custom Y-pipe left me with a best trap speed of 112 MPH. It looks as if I lost some low-end torque on the long-tube headers but picked up some HP on the top-end. I know that Kevin will chime in and tell you that I'm totally wrong, but I think the TES headers are a great compromise in terms of performance versus price.

With some tuning, and perhaps a bit of reconfiguring of the valvetrain, I might be able to exploit the freer-breathing of the 1 3/4 header. However I can't deny that the TES headers did a good job of making power, especially in the sub-5000 RPM range.

I have hedman 1 5/8 shorties. I got them ceremic coated too.

I don't have a clearance problem with the plugs and the quality is good.

My application, see below.
Remember, I have a 48 TB and a small 3" intake tube.

Good message reply from all; this will make it difficult; I appreciate everybodies input; at this point I am looking into either the edels or hookers 1 /5/8; but have noticed that I received warning to stay away from the edel's brand. hmmmmm; will decide soon.

100% agreed. Both have good fit, both have good Y-pipes.

I've never heard anything good about Edelbrock headers.

I'm running Jet Hot coated Hedman shorties and coated y pipe on my IROC. I chose these because my car is lowered. They look great but if I had it to do again, I'd go with coated Hooker LT's.

I've heard that the Hawks LT headers are better for lowered cars.
