That is far more converter than a stock engine needs. With a stock set up you can run a TCI for less and do fine.

Your best bet for converter selection would be to call the company you are going to go with (they should have a toll free tech line) and ask the people that specialize in converters.

What are your future plans for the car?Daily driver? If your just going to do minor mods here and there and drive it daily, I'd say 2800 is a lil high. 2200 should be about right. BTW I've heard some bad stuff about Vigilante. I had a friend w/ a 1999 T/A had two Vigilante converters crack open like a popcorn curnal. Yes, it's a different tranny, but you might want to check into that.

it is a daily driver. future plans include, stealthram, pro lightning heads, lt4 hotcam, 1.5rr's and thats the main ones. i was just talking to david at thunder racing and he told me that 2500ish would be best for now, 2800 would be best with the mods.

With a Vig thats about right. I have a 92 TPI Camaro with exhaust and intake only and just installed a Yank SS3600 and like it a lot, The converter is a lot tighter than most people think. The big thing is get the best converter you can get in your price range.

i really like yanks web site. i had no idea a converter would give you right at 60 ft lbs!!! that converter is right at 200 more than the vigilante though. i think i will stick with it. what stall speed is the yank?

The Vig is a very very good converter and I think you will like it. My car is for street racing with a stock look and I will take every little bit I can find that you can't see.
The Yank is rated at 3,600 ( Yank rates them with a LS1 power leval.) on my stock L98 with headers, intake and 3.73 gears only it stalls at 2,800 and with nitrous I can flash it to 4,000 and that is with the stock long block. (big new motor on the stand now.)

I disagree. A 2800 stall would put him right in his peak torque, which is the point of an aftermarket converter. Contrary to popular belief, a loose stall converter is not as bad as many think for daily driving. I drive my 82 Camaro all over with a hughes pro street 3000 stall and I know plenty of people with bigger stalls than that in the LS1 community who drive their cars on the street. If you are running a 700r4 I would spend the extra money and get a lockup converter, and regardless of the transmission I would get a tranny cooler. I think a converter is one of the best mods you can do for the money.
