If its a factory 5 speed its a 305...no 350's came with the manual tranny. They were all auto's.

If it came stock with a 5-speed, it is a 305. If it's automatic just about the only way you can tell is by looking at the VIN number. It's on the bottom drivers side while looking in from the outside of the car. If the 8th number is an "8" than it is an l98 (350).

BTW, there is no ram air on there...

If the 8th is a F, then it's the 305.

It should be a 305 then, with the 8th digit of the VIN an F like mentioned above.

Look under the car, and if it has dual cats it will have 3.42 gears out back and is rated at 230hp. If it only has a single cat it will have 3.08s I believe with 205hp. The dual cat 305 TPI 5spd cars are actually pretty quick stock, keep up with the 350s well.

86 IROC (retired to brother)
-cammed 305 TPI in the IROC.

ive read that the 350s in 1988 were sometimes confused..ive been told to look for a square shift **** on the automatic..then it is a true 350..some of the automatic 305s with round rounds were sold as 350s.
just thought id help..
thanks again guys.
