I've had the car for about 3 months, the guy I bought it from never drove it, now that I have it im driving it constantly. i brought it into a friends speed shop just to have a "check-up" and make sure everything was doing what it was supossed to do. It has a 600 holley on it now, and before i took it in it was idling at around 600-650, when i picked it up they changed my idle to more around 800-1000 when out of gear. ??? so im kind of confused, and my neighbor restores old camaros and he said around 650 was good. so who is right???

Thanks

Idle can sometimes be a preference depending on a number of variables, ignition timing, cam size, converter stall (if its automatic), carb'd or fuel injected. I would say anywhere between 600 - 950 is good. Basically.. if it doesnt SLAM into gear and it can idle at a stop light @ operating temperature without stalling or bogging on take off.. its fine.

After my LT1 cam install once the engine warmed up I would idle like 550 at stoplights....
