What sequence of events when starting car?
What sequence of events when starting car?
My car recently exhibited behaviour in which it will not start when the car is hot.
I have tried everything, but unfortunately, since I do not know exactly what occurs when the key is turned, maybe I haven't really tried everything.
So, the question is, what happens when I turn the key? On a higher level, I do know that the starter will get juice which will in turn turnover the flywheel which then somehow gets the engine going on it's own. That's where I'm not sure what happens. If someone can point me to a very detailed explanation of what occurs when your car is starting, both in hot and cold conditions, it would be appreciated.
By the way, here's what I have done so far, so I know it's not any of these causing the problem:
- New starter
- New battery
- New spark plugs
- New Cap/Rotor
- New ignition module (w/ heat transfer creme liberally applied)
- Starter heat shield blanket
- Clean out intake with intake/fuel injection spray cleaner
Anything I missed??

starter solenoid....little module before the starter motor that can be compared to a light switch in the way it works....when flipped on power runs to the starter motor and turns it on its just the cutoff switch heres a copy and past of mine from another post to explain....
Yay third gens....Hot engines to help with emissions and burn more gas....Very hot engines make starter solenoid not work properly.....Answer move the solenoid and install a remote starter solenoid....go to thirdgen.org they have a tech article on how to do it....you can even use it as a good excuse to install a push button starter!!!

I don't think that's the problem. It cranks really good, not problem at all cranking. I can let it set there just cranking and cranking. It's a new starter with a heat shield. I had no problem with this before.
Regarding the sequence of events for starting the car, I wanted to know what happens after the flywheel has been turned. For example, what happens next? Does the computer start sending fuel to the injectors because it senses that the flywheel is turning? If so, where is that sensor and what is it called? Does the engine then start sending spark to the spark plugs? I wanted to know exactly every little event that happens in order to get the engine running. I need to check every little thing.
