I`m not sure I think 70-73 LT-1 350 had them in the Z28? and maybe the 67-69 302 DZ in the Z28? the powdered metal rod is the pink rod right?

Just to let you know there`s a big camaro show by you on the weekend the website is www.ontariocamaroclub.com I`ll be there for sure with my 85 Z28

Im assuming you're talking about the cheap rods they sell everwhere - they are used in LT1's from 93-97 as well as the ZZ crate engines and Edelbrock Performer RPM crate engine.

I used a set myself. I snapped one n threw it straight out the side of my oil pan with a loud ****in BOOOOOOMMMMM, within 3 hours of puttin the motor together. I don't like them.

Sorry, no, the pink rods aren't the same as powdered metal. The PM rods are a newer invention, sort of like pink rods, but for the 1990's.

Yeah, I'm going to Camaro Nats. Do you know a guy named Ron, goes by "Pacer" online? Owns an '82 pace car, and lives in the GTA.
A few guys from my club (www.ccfbg.com check it out!), and another club (www.sogm.com) are meeting up for a BBQ in Niagara Falls saturday afternoon. If you're interested, take a look at my club's board, and look in the "Informal Meets" board. The more, the merrier.

Nitro (or anybody else): Is there a block that I can find used in a junkyard that has PM rods, that isn't an LT1? What kind of vehicle could i find such a block in?
I'm looking for a foundation for my 355 build up, and I'd like to use a roller block, with the PM rods that came it in?
Thanks again for your help guys.

I think they were only used in LT1's and LT4's. You can pick up a set dirt cheap at gmpartsdirect.com tho, PN# 10108688 $50 shipped - I think that's less than I paid for em a year and a half ago, I thought they were like $120 - but yeah $50 shipped at gmpartsdirect.com claiming to hold up to 500hp and used in LT1/LT4 engines. I have a 350 2-bolt block for sale if ure interested

Chris: Yeah, I will probably be at Seaway on Fri, I'll look for your car.
As far as entering the Nats, Ron says that he thinks its $30 if you're not an Ontario Camaro Club member. He also says that you must register by sunday (the weekend of the show) by 10AM to be judged. FYI. Aparently your registration fee gets you a few goodies like a shirt, too. Feel free to join ccfbg.com whenever you want. If I see you on friday, I'll give you one of my cheap-*** cards that has the url on it, in case you forget. I like the club because it's mostly southern Ontario people. Good way to meet people in the hobby.

Nitro: $50 USD?!? That's great! I'll check out gmpartsdirect.com, thanks for the heads up man. I'll pass on the block tho, I think the shipping charges would kill me.

Hey Todd! I hear you were hanging out with Christine recently. How's things in Cowtown? Things are good here.
I might be coming out for the summer, if not, then for sure NTChristmas time again next year. Either way I still have your # so I'll give you a shout when I'm in town.

Just saw Christine last night. She's not feeling too well. We're part of the Calgary 3rd Gen car club now and had a meeting last night.

See you when you get here!

Sounds good Todd.

NITRO: Are you sure about the $50 price on the PM rods? It appears that gmpartsdirect.com doesn't list the prices online. Can you provide a link with a price? Pace/SDPC want $250 for a set. That would be great if you could verify gmpartsdirect's price. Thanks again for your help.

Find the part on their site, performance section, engine parts, connecting rods - then copy/paste the part number into the list of boxes on the right n it'll show u a price.

Cool, thanks.
gmpartsdirect wants $202 for a set. All the more reason for me to find a set in a used block.

How are your heads coming along?

How is Russel Patrick's Firebird running? Did he get 12.6 yet?

The heads are coming. Sort of.
I've actually taken a grinder to them, but nothing radical yet.
Russ's buddy Rod will be doing the valve work and screw in studs, so I'm in good hands.

I haven't talked to Russ too much about his car recently. He ran a 13.4 about a week ago, with his new combo, but he's pretty sure that something's not right. Safe bet that he will see at least high 12's before the summer is done.
