Just curious as to the most radical 305's out there - this includes anything built from a 305 block, including strokers - Just curious as to how many people stick with the under rated 305 base and get pavement blasting results - I have found it to be a lot more fun as the underdog!

dont think it was dynoed, but orangeirocs 305 ran a 14.2 on stock cubes before he started his new project. not very extreme but its a start for a mild 305

There are articles on the web with 325 hp and not radical at all. Visit Monte Carlo SS web site and they have tech articles explaining the build up.....

If I'm underrated, that makes me an overachiever I suppose....

Preston Smith's "305" was a 4-inch (bored), 3-inch stroked short block making 25 or so pounds of boost. This is basically a DZ block 302, which allows the use of larger valves, etc. So his engine is technically not a 305 (3.74" bore / 3.48" stroke).

It's very fun being the underdog! Nobody expected a 12.801 out of my car the first and only time I ran it with sticky tires. I would have liked to make more runs and with more than 900PSI in the bottle and with less than 20 PSI in the ET Streets but the nearby track closed that night before I could. ah well. The 12 second goal was more than reached in one shot and it's retired now.

Especially considering it runs consistant 15.60's on motor while bracket racing. haha

With a 108.5mph trap speed and a 3800lb race weight, I'm guessing that's just under 400hp at the crank. Over 300hp/400tq at the wheels also.

As I remember, Preston Smith did get into the 10's with an actual 305 in the car.

Mine's got around 300hp crank and 430tq crank, not too bad for stock heads/intake/prom car. Stock 19lb injectors, stock catback with a Flowmaster.. yadda yadda. I've got a 3" Hooker ready to go on in a couple weeks. I haven't even cut out the bottoms of the airboxes yet...

I've seen 305's lift the front wheels in person at E-town dragway.. But I'd say the fastest one I've heard about is "BADDEST305" he used to have a carbed 305 with a 150 shot. I'd assume it had around 450-500crank hp.

But he is now running a 434 stroker and is in the 10's.
