Arrow What Happens @ 100,000 Miles?

So my 92 RS w/ 305 and 700R4 has 98,500 miles. Drives well, shifts well as long as car is not bone cold.

I've done all typical maintance and replaced starter and fuel pump w/in last year. Only getting a little leakage of tranny fluid while sitting overnight.

Wondering if anything typically happens around the 100k mile mark? Ie- tranny, engine dies.

it all depends on how the car was treated during that 100,000 miles. your engine and trans could last 10,000 or up to 200,000 depending on how the car was driven and maintained. id take a closer look and see where that trans fluid is coming from though

There is nothing mystical about the 100,000 mile mark. A LOT of thirdgens run for 200,000 miles without any serious problems. Just maintain you car like you have and you will have done all that is in your power to do

178,000 miles boys and still barks second gear as long as the tranny's not totally warmed up....No mods except a cooler thermostat and a hypertech fan switch

dinged 138k today
Overall, the drivetrain seems to be in good shape thus far.

I tossed the steel shaft and U joint this weekend in favor of a
newer LS1 shaft. Sucker was rusty as hell and the balancing
weights were coming loose from the shaft.

Still running the synthetic as well, no leaking *cross fingers*

241 thousand miles here and all that happens to mine is the plug wires move themselves around so they can rest on exhaust manifolds

Mine is close to 115,000 miles - the motor spun a rod bearing at 99,099 miles, so I never even made it to 100k But the motor runs good n a rebuild wasnt that bad, also blew the tranny at around 105,000 miles lol.

HA HA, just what I was thinking. Mine has 210,000 miles. Just treat it good, don't abuse it.

Why do people keep saying "dont abuse it"??? Just beat the crap outta it till it breaks, then fix it, a rebuild is no big deal, its more fun to get 10,000 more miles outta the motor n beat the hell outta it, than baby the motor to get 100,000 more miles out of it but worry about breaking it all the time.

It's like people who buy a Ferrari, they put the car in the garage n tell everyone they have a Ferrari, drive it once a month on Sundays n never go over 45mph - whats the fun in that?
