627 would mean a 305.

roller block 305, used from around '88-92.

One piece rear seal if I remember correctly.

However, I am sure it is a 305, looks like the seller was, ahem....misinformed regarding the displacement, or a liar.

Story 1000+ "its a 350 by seller". After the sale the buyer begins to wonder what is under the hood. Now its too late.

Re: What engine do i have

if it was a print ad, and the buyer wants to take a shot (with more than a fair chance of losing more money on fees, to say nothing of his time), it could be claimed in small claims court that the value of the car is less with the smaller (read; less desirable) engine. First step would be to find as many examples possible of true 350 cars (same year, same condition, options, etc) being more valuable and thus the fraud (either intentional or not) has caused damage to him. Get the info and approach the seller with the difference. If you can work out a price adjustment, great! If not, sometimes the threat of a lawsuit can help. Mostly not, as very few people actually follow through. Then follow through if it is worth it to you. In some cases you can recover (especially if they don't show, which is pretty common) the difference between the value of the promised car and the actual one, plus in some counties you can recover court fees (usually between $100-200) on top of that. Sometimes not though, so even if you recover and have to take a day off, it is not worth it. I will sue on something like that, I hate being lied to. Don't care if I lose money. At least I drag them into court and give them a nice little scare when they get their supoena.

But, I have more money/ego than brains sometimes, so it is an individual choice for him.

I can guarantee that no judge will void the sale as the car does perform its primary function of transportation, even with the 305. So you have a shot at getting the difference in value, maybe minus the filling fees and the cost to have the seller served, minus the time spent in the county courthouse (missed work)

Visually there is no difference between the 2 engines, so it could have been an honest mistake. Someone could have lied to the seller and he believed them, or they just chose to believe it to feel special. I'll bet there are tons of people out there who are CONVINCED they have 350s but are really driving around in 305s.

Re: What engine do i have

does it have a TPI or TBI? All TBI's are 305's in the camaros, unless changed over by someone. if the *th digit in the vin is a "E" or "F" is't a 305, If it's a "8" it's a 350
