What To do Guys? Engine Is Toast. Literally.
To make a long story short, today i get a call from my parents (an hr ago) It so happens that on the way home from the mechanic's place, the engine starts on fire. Dont ask me how or why but it did and i know for a fact that the Engine is toast, as may be my car. Now being that i'm in school my hands are tied behind my back, but i wanted to see what you guys would do.
I know engines arent that expensive but my only worry is the funds to get that engine installed. The longer i wait, the better chance my paretns will junk it. And I WILL NOT LET THAT HAPPEN. it was my first car and the body style (83-85)is my fav. out of ALL f-bodies.
So, what should i do?
Is it even worth the cost to put another engine in? Should i just try to find another 84 ta? I really wouldnt want to do that, b/c this was "my car" ya know? Should i go ahead with the engine swap? If so is there any affordable place that would install it? What are your opinions?
Thanks guys for the help. I'm sorry if i'm acting weird now, but i'm just kinda not in a good mood anymore.
Thanks

We need more information on how the engine fire started. i know in Michigan you would not get far sueing the shop. I worked in a dealerships for 20 years and there were several engine fires. They will tell you that is what insurance is for. Now if they are nice guys they may fix it and wave the deduct. I know that sucks but that is the way it is. You could go after there insurance and maybe they would cover it. I know one time we covered part of the repairs on a car thru the company insurance. That was a break in tho in our lot. You didn't say how the fire started or if they worked on it. Let us know what happened.
