What to do?

Hi, new member, i just bought my bro's 86 camaro z28, had a 350 but the block cracked so we took the engine out of a 87' gmc 1500 van and put it in the camaro, its a 305, but we took the heads and the intake maifold of the 350 and put them on the 305. the only thing i got done to it is the exhast, 3 feet of straight pipe that drops down under the driver seat, dose anyone got any suggestions of what i should do first? p.s. i gotta beat my bro when he gets his 95 del sol

Re: What to do?

put a bigger cam in it.

what kind of intake does it have?

how bout a torque converter and gears?

sticky tires.

roller rockers?

NO2?

del sols were not that fast, my old tired 87 IROC with tpi 305 would waste my gf's del sol.

Re: What to do?

stock 5 speed del sol vs my SLOW 78 TA (180 hp 2.56 rear end car that ran a 16.7) = del sol getting owned. i think it ran 17.7s and 18s at the track here....so maybe at sea level it might crank out a 17.2....they aint no thang....

Re: What to do?

spanks for the feedback, dont know as much about cars as u guys do but it has mechanical rockers, everything is stock, dont know any specs about torque conveter or cam, ill ask my bro though (im a poet and i dident know it), i was actualy thinking of buying a 350, swapping good pistons and crankshaft that my bro has on his old 350, the big thing that i wanted was, dont know if this is compatible or not, i wanted high rise intake with dual carbs and a scoop (http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...0355&langId=-1)

Re: What to do?

You really need to put the 305 heads back on IMO. 350 heads have bigger combustion chambers so its going to bring the compression (and power) way down.

I would throw the 305 heads back on it with some good springs,a mild cam and a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and let it ride.

I see the motor came from a 95 van so it should be a roller cam. A Decent cam would be the XE-270-HR. Its a 218/224 .495/.502 and the RPM range is 1600-5400. I personally have used this cam and it makes strong torque down low.

If your still feelin it,throw some 3.73's in the rear.
