Post Whaddya guys think of this engine combo?

Ok, Here's the story. This guy at work lent his truck to his neighbor and the guy at work got this guys Mercury Capri. (Thats the Mustangs twin made my Mercury like the Dodge and Plymouth Neon or whatever) So anyway the guys at work were kinda egging us on to race but he wouldn't because it wasn't his car. I said I would smoke that Capri which apparently has a mildly built 302 "claiming" over 300 horsepower. My mods are in the sig. Anyway word got back to the neighbor and he wanted to race for pink slips. I dunno I guess he really doesn't want his car anymore So I was thinking about a new engine combo so I would be sure to beat this guy. But what on Gods green earth would I do with a Mustang?

AFR headed, Stealth Rammed, 350 .030 motor thats in my car right now. All the details are in the sig. I have the stock heads and TPI right now. I know those are my bottlenecks. Stock heads only flow about 195cfm intake side and the stock TPI flows just as crappy.

What kind of gains would I see with a set of Aluminum AFR heads 2.02/1.60 and the Holley Stealth Ram? I know its a real new combo but what do ya guys think? I honestly believe that I would gain 75 hp or more with that combo on top of what I have right now.

Opinions?

Anybody that's willing to race for pinks has a trick up his sleeve that nobody else is aware of.

I agree with what Jim said. Plus I'm sure he was referring to the way both cars are set up right now, not "oh ya! well I'll just go built a better mouse".

You might have your hands full there, Brad. Those fox bodies are light and even with a few bolt ons run real well. If you do race make sure to do it at a track so as not to have anyone leaving on the other guy.

And remember the general rule of nitrous.... if your not spraying, then guy in the next lane thats beating you probably is so go out and get u some spray.

Lol! Last night the guy I work with overheard me speaking with one of the other guys about funding my new motor. He said I was "cheating" Because I wasn't supposed to dump a whole bunch of $$$ into my car. So I told him, "Hey Brian, I am not an idiot or 'some young punk with a big mouth' and IF I were to put my car up for a Pink slip race I was damn sure it wasn't only gonna be running in the 13's." He called me a cheater and told me he was "gonna have to call off the race."

So what kinda times do ya guys think I would be running with that motor?

Yeah if any motor is to be built a 350 or 383 would work. A set of CNC ported AFR 210 heads would be sweet Along with a 242/248 grind Comp Extreme Energy cam...i think they have one specced out at like .570" lift. Some 1-3/4" headers and a good tuning..I'd say a 383 would make 500-550 HP easy, a 350 would have a big less, a bit less tq too for sure in the lower rpm range but hell, that's what 3000 stalls are for, right right?

It will make power spin that bitch to 7000 RPM also The Stealth Ram will be cool too. coughsprayitcough. Nitrous might be cool too. Nothin wrong with a 200 shot on a built motor yeaaaaa

If you build it, you will come... hahahaha

Going to be hard to find that stealthram intake. Go with the AFR's and a forged bottom end with a 100 or 200 shot of N2O and you should have him . Make sure you have a solid tranny witha good cooler as well. And make sure you don't have a 10 bolt and rebuild that 9-bolt! Ya. That should cover it

Don't race for your car.... ever. Take it from someone who used to make his 10 second car pay for itself $50 at a time. Just don't do it. Run him for some bucks if you have to feed your ego but don't run for the car unless you can afford to lose it.

Well it seems I scared the guy off talking about some new AFR heads and a stealth Ram...somthing about running solid 12's

But I still want to know if I am correct in my thinking. I know there will be other things that I need to get such as 24# injetors or larger... Will this combo make the numbers to run in the 12's? If so, we will add another 12 second 3rd gen to the list someday in the not tooo distant future.
