Wanted! Info on porting TPI System

I would like to know of any websites that would tell me how to improve the stock TPI units air flow or known facts that will improve the stock TPI units air flow. I want to use the TPI setup to keep it looking stock for the moment. and also to see how it will do compaired to what ever I upgrade the car with in the future.
Thanks for the Help
Tony

if u take off the throttle body and look into the plenum,u can see that theres little "walls" right behind the holes for each throttle blade. u can grind them down to make it flow better. im sure theres websites and pics around somewhere,i just dont know where. if u have ever seen behind the throttle body,or have time to take urs off and look,u can see exactly what im talking about.

Check www.ThirdGen.org I'm pretty sure they have some good write-ups.

Re: Wanted! Info on porting TPI System

The best thing do to to the stock TPI unit to help you out is gut the plendum, get a fuel pressure regulator and port the intake and runners. The best place to get aftermarket parts for the unit is from www.TPIS.com, they have alot of parts that u can get. And if u r interested in some parts i have a complete TPI unit from a 87 IROC, i have the TPIS plendum that is gutted, the runners are ported along with the base intake, a MAF with the screen removed, TPIS fuel pressure regulator and the stock fuel rails and injectors along with the throttle body. I have changed to the Stealth Ram and no longer need the old parts and i'm getting rid of them for a good price, If u r interested please let me know!!!!!!

First, its spelled "plenum", and second, TPIS does have great parts but they are way more expensive than other places. You can get the same parts from other online sources for much cheaper.

do you have a 305 or 350 tpi car?

Reason is on the 350 the TPI system hits a wall ata bout 4400ish rpm that it simply cannot breathe enough for the motor. Becuase of this, porting, etc. becomes very expensive for very little gain.

On the 305, however, the smaller head/valve design allows for the TPI system to give it enough air all the way to redline. In this case...port the hell out of it! haha.

Nothing wrong with 4400-5000 RPM in a street car especially if its a daily driver. Unless he is building a drag car.
Not expensive if you do it yourself. Cost of a dremel and a few bits/stones/cutting wheel and a couple of weekends.
Stock bottom ends will not hold up anyways to repeated or prolonged high RPM's.

Yep it is a little 305 But the car was cheep and is a ton good fun. I would like to see with the basic bolt on's and some home done porting on the intake and heads what I can get out of the 305.
I already am turning good times be my standards witha 305.
It runs 14.6 - 14.3 93-94.6mph
all I have is
edelbrock Headers and Y pipe wiht HPC coating
no cat
Flowmaster american Thunder cat back
and BFG Drag Radials
hypertech high voltage distributer/coil
New plugs wires
160 stat.

However this winter I already have bought
Cam springs lifters
fuel pressure reg.
and will get the tranny rebuilt and a higher stall converter
maybe some suspension parts if i can't hook it up

I am only buying the stuff that will bolt up to a 350, but I did buy a cam for the 305. I have a Nitrous Express kit at home that came off a friends import. I was thinking that maybe after I get it to go so fast I can see what a little No2 will do. The real plan is to drop a 350 or 383 in the car with a stand alone MPI unit. Not sure what MPI I will go with?
Thanks
Tony
