Want to spray a TPI 305...need some expert opinions
I have a 1987 Z28 with a Tuned Port 305 with 130K miles. I would like to spray it with nitrous but I dont know anything about nitrous. I,ve heard you have to have tight rod and main bearings and that if I spray a 130K moter it will fall apart, is that true? Also how much does it cost to refill a bottle? Anyone who is spraying please let me know what kind of luck you have with nitrous in an older camaro and any nitrous general tech would be appreciated.

Its usually about 4dollars a lb. So about 40 bux is average for a 10lb bottle. There's lots of people spraying on high mileage motors. Your best bet is to run a compression check on the motor, also check your fuel make sure your getting good fuel pressure. Even then whether you have 130k or 13k you still run a risk of blowing the motor. If you do your research and be careful (all your necessary switches, gauges) you should be pretty safe.
Like stated above, do a search because you're not going to know all the questions to ask. Best to look in the N20 forums. After you run a compression check and check your fuel be sure to change your plugs to non-platinum and some colder stage plugs (most recommend NGK TR 6's) always run premium, never spray with less then 1/4 tank of fuel. I suggest a Nitrous Express Wet kit. Awesome customer service, highly used, reasonable price, and VERY reliable. Good luck and if it booms take pictures =P

My advice which isn't posted:
Find a local source of nitrous and make good friends.
If you pay $4/lb, you will be broke very soon. I learned that quickly.
Use a Nitrous Express Wet Kit. Mine worked flawlessly.
Learn what Air/Fuel ratio is and how to change it. This is called TUNING.
Bottle pressure and Fuel pressure need to be near perfect to have a near perfect tune. Because bottle pressure changes while in use, the tune actually gets richer as bottle pressure lowers. Always start with the specified jetting levels in the kit. Learn to read the spark plugs visually.

Hoorah!
You really have to not care if the engine pops. Buy a cheap spare. I tried to kill mine with a 150 shot. 35 bottles worth.
All it did was Spin the tires. Added ET Streets and it went 12.80.
Retired it since then and it resides in another vehicle as a work horse.
