verify parts in pic please
Hey.. found a TPI set up for the engine im going with. If you already read my other post you know what im talking about.. Could you guys take a look at the pic and let me know of anything you can see that I will need... I am looked at it till im crossed eyed and I cant see anything I will need but then again I havent done the swap before.. Oh, and I already know ill need all the little odds and ins.. and fuel pump is covered already.. by the way the engine is going into a TBI car.. I have heard something about repinning my harness for TPI but cant find any info when I do a search.. maybe I dont need the harness at all??? anyway.. let me know if you guys see anything..tuneport setup
Re: verify parts in pic please
I have only heard of repinning a TBI harness recently and I have no idea what is involved in it.. Yes the harness comes with the TPI set up but I thought I would ask about the repinning since I may not need the harness it comes with and may be able to make a little money back selling it.. but for all I know repinning the TBI harness is harder than ripping it out and intalling the TPI harness.. TGO is still down so I cant search that site and a search here pulled up alot of nothing..
Re: verify parts in pic please
Not sure how you could repin a TBI harness to run a TPI. Right off the bat the TPI has to drive 8 injectors where the TBI only ever drove 2. You just wouldn't have enough/right type of plugs/wires to get the job done. Put the TPI harness in.
Re: verify parts in pic please
I disagree. Repinning the TBI harness to TPI is cake. All you really have to do, is pull some of the pins out of the ECM connectors and put them back in different holes, splice 3 extra injector connectors from the junkyard onto each one already present (since TPI runs 4 injectors off each ECM circuit anyway,) and change a sensor connector or two (i.e. use the MAP wiring for the MAF sensor.) Swap the intake and pump, hook up the stock TPI sensors and ECM, and you're rolling.
When TGO comes back up, run a couple of searches in the DIY-PROM forum. It's been covered there, and it's much easier than pulling all that wiring out of the dash and engine bay.
The only thing I'd recommend, is finding a '7730 ECM and about 10" of harness in a junkyard. That way you can install it as a speed-density setup (using the stock MAP from your TBI) and you won't have to repin the sensor or spend a bunch of money replacing the MAF down the road. You also won't have to chop up that harness for the MAF and ECM connectors that way (which makes it MUCH easier to resell.)

Re: verify parts in pic please
10 years ago the information wasn't available like it is now. Dirk says TGO is supposed to be back up tonight, see what you can find about it before you pull the dash apart.
