Post Underdrive Pulley ???s

I have an 84 Z28 and I want to get underdrive pulleys. My A/C does not have a belt on it. What am I looking to spend $$$ wise for a set of underdrive pulley's and what am I going to need?

Well----What are your current mods? You might do better spending your money on other performance mods.Since your a/c bet is already off how much are you really going to gain.Had pulleys before. No gain went back to stock setup since I was seeing charging problems at idle.Let us know about your current mods ad maybe we can help from there.

All I have done to it is Flowmaster's and a shift kit. I have a K&N air filter in the dual snorkel setup. Stock it has 3.73's so I don't have to buy gears. I'm looking for a performance mod that isn't too expensive.

Maybe I should let you know where I want to go.
I'm trying to see mid 14's with the stock engine.

Thumbs up

Every little bit helps out to get to your goal.......Carb spacer, pulleys, cut cats, bump up timing if knocking allows, exhaust cut out, drop emmission pump and stuff....All of these can probably cut 1/2-1 tenth a second each off your time. But if you have the dough, GET HEADERS!!!! You will feel the difference once headers are on (more if you have the little mods above)...just remember one thing: EVERY LITTLE THING HELPS!!!!

I would also keep the stock pullies.

The L69 is a sweet piece actually compared to the old 305 TPI motors. I would start with an aftermarket intake manifold. I assume Edelbrock makes one and it would let the engine pull a hell of a lot harder above 3500 RPM. It shoud be reletively cheap too! 14's in the 14 should be easy, especially with 3.73's already.

Did you take you A/C OFF of the car yet? If not I would do that as soon as possible. It weighs at least 25lbs in its entirety and it cleans up the engine bay a little. Once that is out, maybe remove all of the SMOG eguipment. Once that is all out and you are confident enough, i would install a set of headers. I had a set of Headman Shorty 1-5/8" headers and they were very cheap as far as price goes. I didn't have any BIG problems other than the collectors leaked every now and then because the engine torqued over so hard. Headman also sells the Y-pipe that matches the headers for roughly $100. If you have plans to keep the car for a few years, have the headers ceramic or Jet Hot Coated. It will keep them from rusting and it definately helps keep engine bay temperatures down. Oh, and they look badass for the life of the car!!

Goodluck and remember that when you improve the intake side of the engine, work to improve the exhaust side just as well. It pays off in the end!

I heard it also helps to test different carb settings with that particular unit.

Ok, I think I'll look into a new intake manifold. Maybe an Edelbrock Performer, since the Performer RPM will give me clearance problems. So the stock intake manifold isn't dual plane? I think I'm gonna ditch the cat but keep the other emissions stuff because in my county (PA) they are really pushing for emissions and if I would need to hook that stuff back up.
