tv cable question

i just replaced the trans in my 91 z and when ever im just cruising around at like half throttle the trans doesnt shift until 4500 or somewhere around there like it thinks im at w.o.t. all the time. to adjust it i pushed in the button and then pulled it to w.o.t. and then released the button. i was wondering if i can give the cable a little more tension or a little more slack to make it shift at a more reasonable rpm, any input would be great!

Your correct on how to adjust it.
Slack is dangerous and can fry the tranny. I have mine set TIGHT as I can. Grabs 3rd from a rool But it has a shift kit.

If Im not mistaken, your adjusting it wrong. I thought that you push the button, pull the wire back toward the firewall, then release the button, and then go to WOT. You should hear a series of clicks, and when it stops, your all done. Please, correct me if Im wrong.

You push the button and pull the SNOUT back into the housing. THEN you turn it to WOT and that's when you should hear the clicks. If it's shifting at 4500 under part throttle then the cable is too tight.....you have to push the snout back to relieve the tension or it won't do you any good. Leaving it too tight or too loose can fry the clutches in the tranny.

Yes, the part that is kinda cone shaped that the cable comes out of. It will slide all the way back until it's right against the housing.
