true duals
true duals
I was just wondering how hard it is to get true duals on an 87 camaro... a guy from an exhaust shop said it wasn't possible and one of their slogans was custom duals... what is up?
Ground clearance is the main issue b/c of the size of most mufflers, then you have the "panhard rod" to deal with.
I have 2.5"true dual pipes that come off my "duals cats" and follow the factory routing and are tack welded together every few inches, and my mufflers are located similar to a Corvette's. I chose the Edlebrock "RPM" mufflers b/c of their compact design and excellent flow characteristics, not to mention they're stainless. It looks almost factory, but sounds and runs much better...

same idea, run through dual cats and stock routing, chambered mufflers are the way to go for clearance, theyre loud as hell and sound amazing, some people want that some people dont, for pics check i think page 5? in my sig, have pics of everything before the axel. Dont think you could run 3" duals over the axel theyd have to be turn downs theres just not enough space.
heres all the info and pics you should need, and probably then some! http://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/show...hreadid=204351
I have true duels on my RS. I don't have pics yet, but it goes from Hooker super Comp longtubes into duel 3" with an X pipe then into Dynomax Race Bullet mufflers dumping right in front of the rear axle.
It fits good and I haven't scrapped the gorund yet. I've been over bumpy railroad tracks, over speedbumps, and into high angle driveways and it never touches.
It's very loud, but I like it and the cops haven't bothered me yet. I'll post pics when I get a chance.

i had to go to about 5 shops before i could find someone to put duels on my car. i've got headers that go into true duels no cats with dynomax bullet mufflers that are run down the drive shaft. sounds really good, and it's not as loud as you'd think. it made my 305 sound really deep. i imagine it will be loud as hell with the 383 in it though.
