Yes, it is absolutely true. Except maybe the 15's in the quarter. I was only able to get into the 16's. What part do you not believe?

 

mine with same engine ran in the low 16's, but it was also a half-baked motor with six digits worth of miles on it. Its accurate.

 

Fishy? You do realize that's not the standard LG4 155HP slug right? That is the "High Output" version of the LG4, the L69. And considering they were rated at 190HP - which BTW IMO is underrated by about 10-15HP, had a manual trans with 3.73 gears, the 15.2 is quite believable. I've seen mag tests as low as 14.9 for those cars.

 

Its just that I see people with modded up cars only pullin 15.5s, didnt think that car stock would be close to breaking into the 14s.

That's about ringht for the 305/5spd Z, 190 was a little underrated tho. The Tpi came out the year and they got into the 14's, My cousins ran high 14's with the 305 A4, which with the 700r4 seemed to be faster than the 5spd cars b/c of the gearing, 3.06 vs 2.95 plus the rear gears and virtually NO shift lag. That was the big thing I remember when he got his, the FIRM / POSITIVE upshifts.

 

The '84 was the last full year carburated. The GM rated horsepower wasn't improved upon until they put out the 350 with the IROC in '86 or '87.

Yeppers the Lg4 was the 4bc in 87

 

15.2 is what GM claimed in the 84 brochure. Some were faster, some slower. Mine ran right about there back then when it was stock.
