It is the 2nd fastest in the Mopar line up, not 2nd fastest american car. They run 14.0x stock. Looked on a Neon board for times. Still there is a BIG gap between the Viper and the SRT and it needs filling.

It is in no way the 2nd fastest American car. Think about it, Z06, regular C5, Cobra, and Lightning are all currently made and at least a full second faster. The thing is, that neon can be bought for $23000+. Ya, they sticker for less ($19000), but supply and demand. The dealers are bending SRT buyers over.

No. The exciting news about the SRT is that it is the Fastest Production car under $20,000(19,995 msrp). It may be the 2nd fastest in the Dodge line of cars but who knows for sure. Also, if I remember correctly, the actual 1/4 mile times were 14.2, if memory serves me right.

I have a friend who has deep pockets and his lightning has a supercharger on it (don't know if that's stock, he said he ordered it that way, I know he's added mods) and 12sec is his best time.

There was one out here at a local place that mods turbos and what not, and with fine tuning and only 1 lb extra boost, they were putting down some 294rwhp and 270 rwtq....... unbelievable. Kinda cool how they come with an autometer boost gauge from the factory

some 294rwhp and 270 rwtq....... unbelievable Well, not quite. They are fwd, not rwd. Front wheel drive. Hot, yes. Civic killer. Golf GTI killer. Thats cool. It would hammer on my old 86 TPI Camaro. Technology wins.

As far as driving one in a Pennsylvania snow storm, forget it. Too much power, a tight suspension, and high performance tires will not be a good combination.

GM has been touting the Ecotec motor in the Cavalier and others as the new champion to be.... well GM, show me. Put the superchargers where your mouth is.

GM finally got the Silverado SS on the showroom floor. Look at the starting price of $39,000. Come on GM, how about some INEXPENSIVE muscle?

So I test drove one of these SRT4s ($23K w/ dealer mark up) and while the performance was impressive you are still driving a neon with the stupidest looking handle bar spoiler. I was excited about the car from what I had read but simply sitting in and taking the car for a spin turned that excitement into, well disappointment - it's just not as cool as I thought it should be...

If you are looking for getting around in snow pick up a WRX - plenty of mods available. And what other car can you buy stock that'll smoke all four tires when you drop the clutch? If you have the $35K pockets wait until year end and grab the Sti which will be here around the turn of the year!

An SRT-4 being a GTI killer??? Hmmm...no self respecting modified GTI owner would allow that to happen! Then again my buddy's GTI eats M5s for lunch so I might be biased
