tremec tko 2 vs richmond 6 speed

From what i can decipher these are two of the best standard transmissions on the market? Am i wrong is there something better? If i am right which one is better? Why? and what is pricing like on the tremec trannys? Also how much hp/torque are they rated to?

thanx for the input have to figure out what tranny goes in the car

For info on the Tremec, I'd recommend Fortes Parts. They have the best prices, and lots of info on the trannys.

The only thing I don't like about the Richmond is that there is 6 gears, but only one overdrive. That many gears usually makes for a real close ratio transmission. Our cars usually make enough torque where shifting gears every second is just a waste of time.

Also, with the Richmond, there is no torque arm mount that I know of. You will have to find a suspension kit (I think Lakewood makes one?) that allows for removal of the torque arm.

if it doesn't have the mount for the TA, just look into a heavy duty TA such as the one that BMR sells. it mounts to a bar that is welded to the frame closer to the axle

bmr ta's...scroll down for the one i was talking about

okay well i did a bit of research and found that the tremec can take roughly 450 foot pounds of torque. No idea what the richmond can handle. Out of curiosity What manual transmission exists for one of our cars that wants to break over the 600 hp mark? From what i can tell there isnt even one that comes close

i am sure that a Jericho, or G-Force road racing trans would fit the bill.

might need to get out the vasoline for one of those.

i also think that with the TKO that 450ft/lbs is not a def number, at 451 you aren't going to ruin it. from what i understand they test them at that number to handle continues 450ft/lbs of torque for a 24hour period. that is a pretty brutal test. you might try contacting fortes, or tremec and also richmond, and talk to them, tell them what you power level plans are, and what the usage will be. there are also alot of variables with tannys, the wieght of the car ect all factor into what a tranny will hold.

What about the D&D Performance Viper t56 set up. That thing is rated for at least 500 lb/ft.

They also make a universal adapter system that let's you hook up various flavours of t56 inc. the Viper tranny.

Not chea, but here.... you can read about it:

The shifter I have is actually made with the torque arm mount built into it.
